AA

American Airlines wouldn’t let me get on my flight because one letter was misspelled on 1 of 2 of my tickets. You think I was joking or there must be some way someone could fix it so I could go on my flight.

I was in pure rage and utter amusement on the phone at one point because these kinds of things only happen to me, I swear. I noticed I didn’t check into my flight yet around midnight so I went ahead and checked in my 2 tickets for my boyfriend and I to go to my cousins wedding. I noticed my boyfriends name; Brian, was misspelled as Bryan. I quickly called American Airlines and was on hold for roughly 10 minutes and was initially told it wasn’t a problem and that I just needed to have my 2 tickets reissued with separate record locators but we could still be on the same flight. I was relieved and put on hold again while they made the changes.

About 5 minutes later a different voice in a stern tone stated that there was a problem and my tickets could not be changed under any circumstances. I did what any rational human would do and asked again why that is. Why is that such a small task couldn’t be completed even though we are looking at the same dumb mistake? I was told my tickets came from a web special that is through American Airlines might I add, and because these tickets were purchased for a bit less miles with AA, they could not change the name on my ticket. I said okay but we can still fly right? Or at least I can at least still fly? I kid you not, the next thing this lady says is you cannot fly. I was like excuse me what?! I hope you can imagine the pure rage and panic that came out of my mouth. I not only cried over the phone to this woman, I also yelled and almost got hung up on. I couldn’t believe it and I hung up on accident after being on the phone for 40 minutes I had enough anyway.

My dad then called and the same lady told him, “I’m sure the TSA won’t even notice.” I proceeded to go on the plane the next day with Brian and we made it through just fine. The TSA at the airport didn’t even mention it.

So I guess I learned a few things here:

1. I have anxiety & no patience.

2. I hate American Airlines.
